Number the Stars-Lois Lowery

An excellent book about 2 best friends, one is Jewish and the other is not, live their lives
through the war in 1943. Annemarie and her family help her best friend Ellen Rosen and her family from being captured from the Nazi's.
This book can teach history, culture, diversity, develops acceptance, awareness, and you learn about yourself. It also stimulates conversation and questions.
I can't say anything bad about the book but that I enjoyed every chapter of the book and there was not one boring point.

I am going to be reading this book, too. I read it back in elementary school but I don't remember it all that much. Your post has definitely excited me to read it again!

I also read this book when I was in elementary school and I recently read it again for this class and I think it is a great story about friendship and is a very good teaching tool for students.

Along with friendship, it also abut loyalty, and relationships. Also, this could teach children a lot about social behavior in the classroom.

Diane J. Wood: What a compelling story of compassion and families embracing each other. The Halocaust is unimaginative and to read a story of triumph through all the hatred displayed during World War II is a great teaching tool about stepping up, bravery and standing for what is right.
